FAQ

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

When it comes to tattoos, you get what you pay for. Yes, there are plenty of people tattooing out there that will ink you cheap, and you’ll be crying to a real artist to have it covered up. Look for quality, and be willing to pay for it. NEVER haggle over the price of a tattoo. It is disrespectful to the artist.

If you can’t pay for quality, don’t bother. This is not a bargain bin. It is a piece of art you will wear for life.

WHAT SHOULD I GET AND WHERE?

This is all a matter of personal taste.

You can get whatever you want, and whatever your artist is willing to do. You can choose a picture off the wall, or you can have them create a custom piece just for you. Your only limit is your own imagination. As far as where you should get it goes, just keep in mind what you do for work and the type of social circles you are in. You might want to consider placing your tattoo where it can be easily covered up with normal clothing.

WHY DO YOU REQUIRE DEPOSITS?

Often we will have hours of work in drawing and preparing for a tattoo before you sit down in our chair. Deposits help to ensure you make it to your appointment and that we haven’t done hours of work for nothing.

WHY DO TATTOOS START TO ITCH WHILE HEALING?

As the skin rejuvenates itself, usually about a week after the tattoo was done, the itch sets in. This is 100% normal. Good moisturizers will help immensely with this but DO NOT SCRATCH IT! If lotion isn’t helping, run it under cold water for a few moments and you should be itch free.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL AFTER A TATTOO/PIERCING?

The majority of your new tattoos healing process will be done within the first two weeks. However, the skin is still working to heal and rejuvenate and you need to plan on a 4-6 weeks for your skin to be back to its previous state.

DOES IT HURT?

Pain is really relative. Everyone has a different tolerance to pain.

I’m not going to kid you, though – it does hurt. Just not that much. Some have compared it to a “hot scratching feeling”. But, people would not be returning again and again for tattoo after tattoo if it hurt that bad! Most of us are not into pain, but the beauty of the tattoo and the pride associated with wearing it far outweighs a little pin-stick here and there.

Can I use some kind of numbing cream? These kinds of products are really not recommended. Find out why by reading No Pain, No Gain.

WHEN SHOULD I NOT GET TATTOOED?

You should not get tattooed when you are:

  • Drunk
  • High

  • Pregnant

  • Pre-Surgery

  • Post-Surgery

  • When you don’t know what you want

  • When you can’t afford it

  • When you’re sunburned

  • When you haven’t showered

  • When you have your kids with you

  • If you don’t have an ID

  • Being pressured into it

  • When you’ve been told by us that your idea is bad

WHAT ARE SOME THINGS I MAY NOT THINK OF BEFORE I COME IN?
  • Take a shower

  • Don’t bring your kids. No really, don’t bring them.

  • Bring all of the necessary documentation

  • Good work costs money – so bring it!

  • Eat before you come in!

  • If you’re diabetic plan for a crash (and prepare yourself!)

  • Your idea may not be able to be tattooed

  • Just because you saw it on Pinterest doesn’t make it a good tattoo

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY TATTOO SESSION?

Make sure you are well rested, well hydrated, and have eaten recently. Aside from that, take a shower, charge your phone or tablet up to full, and don’t bring in your 50 closest friends (1-2 are fine).

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR FOR MY TATTOO SESSION?

It’s more important to be comfortable than to be fashionable. Looser is better than tighter, and keep in mind you want to be able to cover up certain places that might show, depending on where you’re getting your tattoo.

Aftercare

THE CARE YOU GIVE YOUR NEW TATTOO GOVERNS HOW GOOD, OR BAD, YOUR RESULT WILL BE.
We take great care and pride in all of our work, and you know all the tattoos we perform will have been made 0
using sterile equipment. We do not re-use needles etc, and each customer has their colours mixed individually,
with any leftover disposed of. We only use the highest quality needles and colours. You will be given the best
advice available and with conscientious aftercare on YOUR BEHALF problems should not arise.
Whilst we take every precaution possible, the aftercare of a new tattoo is the sole responsibility of the
client – we cannot accept any liability after a client has left the studio.
As we have wide experience of tattooing, we offer the following advice.

  • A light scab or “top” will form on a new tattoo after about 24 hours. The newly tattooed part should be
kept clean and dry at all times. You should bathe the area with a good quality soap and warm water
2-3 times a day, DO NOT soak the area. Pat dry with a clean towel, DO NOT RUB.
  • Clients engaged in work of a dirty or dusty nature are advised to keep the newly tattooed area covered
with a dry, light bandage for the first 4 days.
  • Lightly rub a small amount of Bepanthen Cream (available from either “Boots” or “Tesco”) into the
new tattoo twice daily for approximately one week. Do not put petroleum jelly (Vaseline) on a new tattoo
as this will not allow the skin to breathe and, due to its sticky nature, may make particles of dust or dirt
    adhere to the tattoo.
  • Do not be tempted to pick off the scab. The top will peel away, or flake off, in about 5 – 7 days. If you pick
the scab, you risk infection, scarring or removing the colour from the tattoo.
  • Sunbathing should be avoided whilst healing, as the sun will not only burn your tattoo, but also cause
    colours to fade.
  • Avoid swimming, saunas, dirt, oil, grease, paint, industrial cleaners, caustic substances, raw meats,
creams or ointments (except those already recommended).
  • Swimming is not recommended for 10 days.

It is very unusual for a tattoo not to heal quickly as hygiene methods follow recommended procedures. Should
yours not be healing to your entire satisfaction, consult your doctor immediately.
